If you want to have real shopping experience here in Phuket you have to visit some markets. These markets are over the whole Phuket Island and they offer mainly fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and meat products, but there are also markets that offer mainly cloths and other petty wares. Just walking around on the market place you will get an extraordinary experience and a lot of fresh food products.

Phuket Town Weekend Market

It is a very popular market place on the border of PhuketTown where you can by all kinds of different goods starting with cloths, CD-s and handicraft up to all kinds of curios twitters and foods. You can find the market place going from Patong to PhuketTown along Wichitsongkram Road up to Central Festival traffic lights (on the right there is Thai Naan restaurant) and you have to turn right here. At the next traffic light you have to turn left and then you find the market place on the right side of the road.

Market is open on Saturdays and Sundays from lunch time up to 10 in the evening. It is recommended to go there early because later the place will be crowded. The market place is large so if you just walk and do not buy anything in takes at least an hour.

Chatuchak Market

This market place in PhuketTown is smaller than the similar one in Bangkok. It is situated in the eastern end of Phang Nga Road. It was considered the largest one before the opening of Phuket Town Weekend Market. In general the market is open on Saturdays and Sundays but some counters are also open on weekdays.

Expo Market

In this indoor market they traded mainly with cloths and accessories. It is situated in PhuketTown on the 2nd Tilok Uthit Road near Thavorn Grand Hotel. It is the best place to trade getting cloths for cheap prices. The remote roads outside are also edged with booth and stalls. The market is open seven days a week.

Downtown Market

This is the main fresh food market on Phuket. It is situated on Ranong Road in PhuketTown. The market is open 24h but availability and choice of the goods depends on the definite moment of the time. The best time to get fresh food is early in the morning between 2 and 6. The food is the freshest when it comes from local farms and local airports. Majority of restaurant keepers come to supplement their food resource exactly at that time. On the side of the road there are counters where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables. On the other side of the road there are interior rooms where you can get meat products and seafood.
